December 2000

Birdwise, December began on the 2nd. I was with Helen in New York on business and, of course, had to visit Central Park. We were there Saturday morning, and again Sunday morning. The first day added three birds to my life list.

The only other trip of the month was on Christmas Eve when we went to Pagham Harbour and West Wittering.

The month total just broke the century, finishing in 101 species; the top ten was:

  1. Fox Sparrow
  2. Red-bellied Woodpecker
  3. Tufted Titmouse
  4. Dark-eyed Junco
  5. Eurasian Spoonbill
  6. Black-legged Kittiwake
  7. Hermit Thrush
  8. White-throated Sparrow
  9. Downy Woodpecker
  10. Northern Flicker
