Dallas–Fort Worth Airport

We had to change planes at Dallas–Fort Worth both on the way in and on the way out of the USA. The birds we saw first time comprised Common Starling, Common Grackle, Feral Pigeon and Red-tailed Hawk - thrilling stuff huh? Well, it is an airport and they don't like birds there. Despite this I had this vague hope of something better. On the way back we landed on a hot and windy afternoon with my vague hope still in my mind. As the plane taxied to the gate I noticed something bouncing up and down by the side of the plane. The plane stopped! Suddenly, as I realised what I was looking at I grabbed Helen and inarticulately pointed out the window at a male Scissor-tailed Flycatcher. It flew a short distance and landed on the runway so we could get a decent view of it by leaning in a most peculiar direction. The people sitting behind us seemed to think we were a bit strange! Little did they know. A fantastic end to the trip.
