Riverdale Park and Wellesley Park
Despite heavy rain we wanted to walk to the Don Valley in Toronto. The weather made this problematic and we only got as far as Riverdale Park. The more common birds were seen here including American Goldfinch, House Finch, Northern Cardinal, Tree Swallow, Red-winged Blackbird, Chimney Swift, Baltimore Oriole, Gray Catbird, Common Grackle, Song Sparrow and Black-crowned Night-heron. A good day list for a British birder.
The rain eased off and we walked past Necropolis Cemetery seeing Mourning Doves, and reached Wellesley Park. Here we had our first Blackpoll Warblers, a male and a female, heard and seen, and an Eastern Wood-Pewee. The rain then started up again and got quickly very heavy so we headed back into the city.
